








Since Russia launched a full-scale military invasion on February 24, 2022 millions of people have had to seek refuge outside Ukraine. An estimated 30-40% of those fleeing are children under the age of 14, many unaccompanied or separated from their caregivers. In total, more than 80% of the refugees are women, adolescents, girls and boys. War in Ukraine continues to take a heavy toll on the lives of millions of women and girls – from increased risks of gender-based violence, sexual exploitation and abuse to the loss of crucial livelihoods and rising poverty levels. Przemysl, with 60 thousand inhabitants, is 7km from Medyka, one of the border crossings with Ukraine, and that is why it became a starting point for other destinations within Poland or the EU.
