“Dime I Love You” is a project that explores emotional abuse, a common yet often invisible form of psychological violence.
Following the phases of the cycle of violence described by Walker (1979, The Battered Woman), I adopt a circular structure to illustrate this recurring pattern of abuse.
Through the image of the lamb — the quintessential sacrificial victim and a symbol of redemption and atonement in various religious traditions — I seek to expose this form of aggression.
The metaphor alludes both to suffering and to the involuntary sacrifice of those who, by revealing their pain, allow emotional violence to be recognized and treated with the seriousness it deserves.
My purpose is to make the invisible visible, the intangible tangible, and to reveal the psychological harm that, all too often, goes unnoticed.
